The Dakota Hoody is a waterfowl utility player excelling as a durable windproof outer layer and as an insulating mid-layer underneath a shell. Built with 3-Layer GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ with WINDSTOPPER® Technology, this hoody delivers improved stretch for those tighter shots while laid out or in the trees. The lofted fleece interior provides all-over comfort and the built-in zippered hand muff will keep your hands warm between shots. The form-fitting hood seals out the wind without sacrificing peripheral vision or range of motion needed to keep eyes on a swirling flock.

Sitka, great product, but please make this in the whitetail line. I would love to see more items included with the wind stopper material. Wind is what gets you and many times the temperature warrants a hoodie but the wind forces me to wear more.

Absolutely love this thing! Its pretty warm, especially with a baselayer under it. Its also windproof and water resistant, ive never had water get through and have worn it in rain (not downpours) multiple times. Its also very versatile. So far I have got a ton of use from this hoody it is by far my favorite piece of Sitka gear.

Hands down the Best Hoody I have ever worn. Fine without a layer in the 50's and then start adding layers and still comfortable with some long underwear and a fleece down to 0 degrees. Haven't been anywhere colder than that, so can't attest to Below 0. If it had a little more water resistance for more than 2 hours in a driving rain it would be 10 Stars.

Great jacket for those days in the 50’s and with some layers under I’ll wear it down to about 30°. Only thing I wish it had was a kangaroo pouch on the front, I had a UA jacket similar to this one and that pouch was really useful when you’re in waders and just in general. I like how Sitka cuts the jackets higher on the waist, 90% of my waterfowl hunting I’m sitting or laying down and it’s nice not having all that material bunched up on your mid-section which is gonna lose your heat. It fits my perfectly, I got a MEDIUM and I’m 5’-9”, 160~lbs, athletic build, I have some room for layers but I would suggest getting a large if you’re any taller than me just for the extra sleeve length and length in the front.

The only complaint I ever have about Sitka Gear is that I wish they made everything in solid colors as well as camouflage. Sometimes I don't want to wear camo, but I ALWAYS want to wear a Sitka Jacket. This one is no exception, I bought one several years ago for the Windstopper warmth and returned it because it was way too noisy for bowhunting. Doesn't matter as much for Waterfowl I guess. Recently got this one in the newer Infinium version, and it is much improved, another home run. I love the timber pattern for the woods, the fit allows for layering and the fabric is extremely rugged and much less noisy, with the exception of the hood. I am not overly put off by that since I rarely wear the hood anyway unless it's really windy and noise becomes less of an issue at that point. I plan on being crazy warm in my tree stand next season. Get yourself one!

Underneath I wore my thermals, a t shirt over the thermal, and my grinder hoody. Overall warmth and comfort was out of this world. I didn’t feel any wind or precipitation! I was blown away. I hope Sitka starts to redesign most of their gear to fit more like this hoodie. I am 5'8" 165lbs. I own Dakota Hoodie, Gradient full zip, Duck oven, Hudson jacket, Delta vest, and Delta wadding jacket - all in Mediums. This Hoodie and the duck oven are the only 2 pieces that I can wear with anything other than a thin shirt underneath, because the transitions from the chest to the arms are SO TIGHT in all of Sitka's other gear that I own. It's makes them miserable to wear for any long period of time because it causes the under shirt to rub under your arms. I have tried larges in most of the ones I own and the arms are 6" too long. They fixed this issue when they redesigned these hoodies.

I’ve worn this in the rain, wind, warm, cold and this “hoodie” is not only warm and waterproof it’s also the most comfortable thing I’ve ever owned. I wear this jacket/hoodie under or over my waders in early season and in late season I will throw on a vest or some layers under and I might not even wear a shell. I’m 5’10 and 195lbs with an athletic dad bod. The large fits me absolutely PERFECT. If you are taller then that I would recommend a LT, not an XL unless you are an XL shape.

Extremely versatile. It was low 60s opening day but 15mph with rain which ended up turning into a straight downpour. The DWR held up way better than I expected and the only thing that got wet through 80-90 mins of nonstop rain was the end of the sleeves. Can’t wait to test it out in some lower temps. Overall, I love it and it’s extremely comfortable. Only knock would be the length is a tad short for me at 6’3.

I wanted to love this jacket, but I just couldn't get past a couple of significant issues (Hood fit, cuffs, and felt restrictive). The fabric seemed tough, weatherproof, but not as stretchy as I wanted resulting in a tight restrictive feeling in the shoulders and a loose fitting beer-gut sized lower torso. The hood is closely fitted to someone with a much shorter neck and a smaller less oblong head than myself making it useless and very restricting. If I sized up I imagine the shoulders would fit better but then the lower torso area would be even more ridiculous. The cuffs didn't seal at all and have no method to seal (water and wind down the sleeve, no thank you) a serious issue for someone who paddles into their duck spots. It appears to be a tough windproof waterfowl specific jacket designed for someone is shorter, rounder, and doesn't paddle a boat. Size large, 6'3" 200lbs.

Winds gusting to 25mph, 30°F and hands were frozen but the hoody front pocket warmed them up in no time! Usually pair with grinder and if extremely cold I will throw on merino heavyweight, then grinder, and then Dakota and good in virtually conditions here in Michigan. Puddle hunting you will heat up real quick retrieving ducks or wading so be aware. I own the gradient hoody and I don't even wear that anymore now I have this. 5'11" at 218lbs and XL fits perfect with two base layers as mentioned above.

The Dakota hoody did well on the few duck hunts I used it on this past season, but the real test came this week when temps. where I live in Texas went down into the single digits. I wore it while checking for busted pipes, wrapping plants, busting ice off our driveway and sidewalk, and going up into the attic to add insulation to pipes. I also used it as my outer layer inside the house when we were without power for 24 hours. After seeing how it performed through all that, I'm convinced that the Dakota hoody is worth its weight in gold. It's definitely a piece I'll never do without.

Nice jacket, for the most part it is very waterproof, keeps the water out better than my Columbia rain jacket. One thing I do not like about it is that it is too loose. I am 140 lbs and 6 foot tall so pretty skinny. It is not a slim fit. Without it being a slim fit, it just does not keep me as warm as it could. I normally have to wear a sweatshirt or vest under it for insulation in 30-40 temps.

I love the pockets (especially the chest zip) at first the hood seams sort of useless because its so thin and goes over your head weird. Took it out on a hunt where we were supposed to have light rain, I'm thinking the water resistant hoodie will probably be enough. Well we had a lot more rain than we expected, but the hoodie help up fantastic. The only wet spots underneath were at the seams (I wish the seams were taped). Even when completely soaked, the front hand warmer kept your hands warm. Great insulation even when wet.

The Dakota Hoody is one of my favorite pieces of Sitka Gear that I own. Durable, windproof, and cut to accommodate multiple layering options when the temperatures start to dip; the kangaroo pouch is a lifesaver on cold mornings with no gloves when you're running a call! The hood design is much improved over the previous version and the standard vs performance cut really made a difference in wearability for me. I can use this jacket as an outer down to the 30s, a must have for the days when you see a 30 plus temp swing from sunrise to midday.

Absolutely love this Hoody! It works great for the majority of the season in NW Missouri and keeps the cool wind away from your body. When that nasty NW Wind starts blowing, the Dakota works perfectly under the Hudson jacket. Some folks might say that’s too much insulation, but as I age, I get colder easier. With Sitka Gear, I never get cold anymore! Great piece of equipment that I recommend everyone have in their arsenal!

Being a veteran duck hunter with over 20 years in the field, I've been through a ton of different jackets. This last season I put the new (2019) Dakota Hoody through its paces. This jacket has been through it all; from climbing through barb wire fences, pushing through briar patches, in and over the side of frozen Jon boats, laying in blinds across the corn stubble, standing around for hours in the flooded timber, and even laying back against the side of a frozen dam. This last season I hunted this jacket from no layers at 60 degrees; and then all the way down to a wind chill in the teens with nothing but a synthetic base layer and a light sweater underneath. No matter the wind speed, it does not cut through this jacket.
This has allowed for an insanely low number of layers needed to stay warm. The lack of layering needed, and the flexibility this has allowed is game changing compared to my old bulky jacket with layers. Getting around, through tight spaces, and allowing for ease of gun swing is second to none in my opinion. This was my first go around with Sitka as a brand, and I'm already planning a full system out for the next season. I wanted to give it a full season to see how well it performed, and to see how it held up through our harsh hunting environments. After nearly 45 days in the field hunting, and another 25 days in the field fishing, it looks practically new. There are absolutely no tears, holes, or worn areas to be seen.
When it's all said and done, this thing just flat out performs. If you're wanting to run light weight and low bulk, yet stay warm, this is the way to go. In time of extreme bitter cold, below the teens, it can easily be layered under another puffy jacket if needed. Even though this is named as a hoody, it is far from the hoody in which I envisioned. It is so much more.
